Infinite Recursion and Intelligent Design

As life on earth is so complex, it must have been designed by an intelligent entity. However, this entity, this god if you prefer, must itself be so complex that it must have been designed by an intelligent entity. However, this entity, this god if you prefer, must itself be so complex that it must have been designed by an intelligent entity. However, this entity ... and so on. There must indeed be an infinite series of gods and no original creator. This fact of infinite recursion of gods is implicit in the intelligent design concept

What can we conclude from the infinite recursion of gods? Firstly, no single-god creationist could possible accept the existence of an infinite series of gods extending back into the past forever. This simple truth proves that intelligent design is not a vehicle made up by the religious community to insidiously compromise the teaching of science with religion.

Secondly, we must ask why the rather stable infinite series of gods, a series of gods with no beginning, a series of gods quite content just to intelligently design and create another god, suddenly produced a god that created the earth and all life on earth? We can only make one conclusion - some random event changed the nature of the last god in the series and instead of creating another god, that sick and flawed god created an abomination. The science of intelligent design proves that earth and all that it contains is, quite simply, a design flaw and we should expect to be destroyed by the wrath of the infinite recursion of gods as they strive for normality.

Elegantly put Bigglesea ! In light of this new insight I may have to abandon my great unifying table-leg theory of the universe ? But let us not forget that memorable quotation from the Book of Di Pasta Grande Divinità: 'Non sedersi su una sedia con una gamba rotta'
